The National Guard has been called in to assist in recovery efforts in Winston Salem North Carolina following a cyber attack late in December that has crippled certain city systems.
Initially reported on several news outlets the attack prompted shutdowns which "prevents any and all online payments from being processed, causing billing services like parking tickets, utilities, code enforcement and yard waste to be inoperable."
Now, if you have been following my posts for any significant period of time you are well aware that this is not and probably will not be the last municipal system that falls victim to the wonderful world of cyber crime.
