Change Healthcare Finally Ready to Tell You What They Lost
Since we have discussed this breach at such length in other post and videos I will refrain from delving once more into the intricacies. For today I simply wanted to pass along the information.
Change Healthcare has announced that they will begin sending out breach letters in July to affected persons. Data leaked during the attack includes all of the following categories:
Health insurance information (such as primary, secondary or other health plans/policies, insurance companies, member/group ID numbers, and Medicaid-Medicare-government payor ID numbers);
Health information (such as medical record numbers, providers, diagnoses, medicines, test results, images, care and treatment);
Billing, claims and payment information (such as claim numbers, account numbers, billing codes, payment cards, financial and banking information, payments made, and balance due); and/or
Other personal information such as Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses or state ID numbers, or passport numbers.
The article reiterates that while the Change Healthcare has never specifically outlined the number of impacted individuals the CEO Andrew Witty did disclose that the breach may affect up to 1/3 of Americans.
